When Morgan needs something he (most of the time) buys things* that are functional first, but they always have to have some sort of "cool" factor.
*These items do not include cereal boxes just for the toy inside, a seventh lightsaber just because, or the newest Enterprise ship from Star Trek.
Recently he went out to buy a night-light. He wanted one that uses LEDs so it will be more energy efficient. Logical and functional right? He came home with one that he found that also had his "cool" factor. When he plugged it in it changed colors in a strobing manner which means that between the changing of colors, it went completely black. How are we supposed to see when it's pitch black every 3-4 seconds?
So, about a week later out he went again in search for a LED night-light that would work. When he came home I pointed out that it, again, was color changing. He was shocked as he did not see that on the packaging (even though it said it). At least this time it didn't go black in between the colors. We tried to use it and in the middle of the night I noticed it had been turned off. Apparently he could see the colors changing through his eye lids.
In the end I went digging through his bathroom drawer and found the LED night-light that his mom had given to him a couple of years ago which is just one color and stays on all the time. Problem solved.
The last item is his new alarm clock. He was tired of not being able to see the clock on my side table because of his bad eye sight. So, he came home with a clock for his side that uses bright blue LEDs and has gigantic numbers. The problem? It's so bright that he can't sleep since it's shining in his eyes so he has to turn it against the wall. We really could just use that as the night-light. So, he has two unusable night-lights and a clock that he can't read since it now faces the wall.
Love it.

hahahahaha..i'm still fighting the no damned night lights in my room battle with heather. :) Your eyes adjust to the darkness so just go with it is my view point. Yea a strobe light on a nightlight would drive me crazy too.
CLASSIC!
NO...A night light IS needed and my eyes don't adjust THAT well. I'm with Allison. I do not however, need one that changes color. :)
Oh goodness. Gadgets, gadgets. We just get the cheapo nightlights that cost like a dollar. I guess we're not techies.
